American Express GBT Joins with UNICEF USA to Support the Learning Passport
American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) has become an official supporter of the Learning Passport as part of its flagship charitable cause – educating children during times of crisis – in partnership with UNICEF USA.
Originally launched in 2018 as a partnership between UNICEF, Microsoft, and the University of Cambridge to support displaced and refugee children, the Learning Passport underwent rapid expansion in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted the education of more than 1.5 billion children across the globe. GBT has now joined with UNICEF and partners to ensure children and young people can continue learning from anywhere, at any time.
The Learning Passport provides a digitized curriculum, featuring textbooks and a selection of supplemental content in national languages, jointly curated at the country-level to best serve learners’ and educators’ needs. By capturing a record of learning for each student, the Learning Passport guides learners with little additional support needed, and provides each with a unique, personalized record that can be taken across physical & digital borders.
Through this partnership, GBT continues to expand its efforts to preserve education for the world’s most vulnerable children impacted by humanitarian emergencies, extreme poverty, disease, and disaster.
