50 U-Reporters kicked off the new year in Gabon with an ambitious challenge: to boost the adoption of digital education platforms. In collaboration with the Ministry of National Education and UNICEF, a capacity-building program was organized to equip young people with the skills to promote digital learning tools that are transforming primary education in Gabon.

Empowering youth through training is key to the success of this initiative, as they will play an active role in reaching out to parents and demonstrating how to use these platforms. The training was divided into two parts: theory and practice. The young participants had the opportunity to explore educational platforms in depth, such as Learning Passport Gabon and Akelius, both integral to the digitalization of education. These platforms aim to enhance access to quality education through technology.

The training took place in a digital center recently connected by Airtel, a space where young people can develop digital skills and access the internet. This center, a true digital learning hub, will equip young people with the necessary skills to actively participate in the digital transformation of education.

Jean François LESSIABIGUI, digital learning program focal point and director of the teacher training center in Libreville, emphasized the enthusiasm and engagement of the young participants:

"As a teacher, I witnessed my students being highly attentive to the messages conveyed. But what stood out the most was seeing the U-Reporters fully engaged and felt at ease with the use of digital tools."

He highlights that the young participants asked relevant questions, addressing common concerns from parents and families and showing their commitment to understanding the challenges of digitalizing education.

Among U-Reporters, Daicie expressed her excitement about the experience:

"Participating in this training was a true revelation. It further motivated me to deepen my knowledge of digital platform. I also loved the use of this platform that will allow our younger siblings to learn through digital tools that suit their needs."

Clavery Yta, a U-Reporter and a biology teacher at a secondary school, also highlighted the professional benefits of the training:

“As a teacher and digital advocate, this experience with Learning Passport allowed me to discover new tools and methods to enhance my students' learning and integrate technology into my educational practices”

At the end of the training, U-Reporters will take on the role of digital learning ambassadors, conducting awareness campaigns among parents to promote and facilitate access to these platforms. With mobile data support from Airtel Gabon, they will share these resources with their families to promote wider adoption.

By empowering young people as key players in this project, Gabon is embracing a new era of education, where digital tools will be at the heart of learning, preparing the Gabonese youth for the challenges of the future.
